WHY STUDY PTE PROGRAM IN HLA?

It offers a comprehensive introduction and run-through of the entire exam, from scoring breakdowns, to academic term definitions, to skill building exercises specific to PTE test preparation.

HLA uses books that has immeasurable of tips, practice questions and answers, and also really nicely breaks down the structure of the exam itself.

• Students get coached and trained to take the test by every teacher on a skill-based approach.
• Feedback analyses are given since the day of Entrance exam to be the first foundation of coaching and to be followed by a practice tests and mock tests results to closely monitor progress or skills development that need to be reinforced to get the target score by the end of the program.

LEARNING GOALS:

• The prime focal point of PTE is to assess the language proficiency of a student in speaking, writing, listening and reading. 
• To track the student’s progress and identify areas where he/she needs to improve.
• To acquire a knowledge approach for all the macro skills to achieve the target score. 

Class structure per day: 5 one to one classes, 3 group classes and 1 self-study class (Essay Writing/ Music Class)

PEARSON TEST OF ENGLISH (PTE):

• General Learners: is suitable for all who plan to work or settle abroad.
• Academic Learners: is for those who want to study abroad at the undergraduate, master, or doctoral level or according to the organization’s specific requirements.
• Young Learners: is for those youth learners who would like enter an International University to come across different nationalities and communicate by the use of the Universal Language. 

Course Highlights:

A. Skill-Based Focus (Competency-Based)

• Classes will be focused on developing the basic skills necessary for PTE examinations (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) 
• Criteria are used to determine a student’s level based on the competencies set by Pearson Test of English with CEFR equivalence. 

B. Learner-Centered

• Classes are focused on developing students’ macro and micro skills, plus the usage of English in a classroom setting.
• Teachers closely monitor students’ progress through feedback.

C. Outcome Based Education

• Focuses on students’ evaluation to monitor progress and feedback.
• Daily and weekly feedback from the teachers is done to inform students’ achievement and things that need improvements.
• Mock Test results are closely monitored to help students get better scores.
• Special recognition and awarding of certificates at the end of the course.

D. Integrated Approach

General Skills subject will generally test how well the student does in all major skills.

Course Requirement:

Classes will be available for all students with a score range of 43-58 on the Entrance Test. 

• Failure to reach 43-58  will not be able to study the PTE course but can be enrolled in the PTE preparatory course which has 5 one-to-one PTE classes,  3 Gen. English group classes and 1 optional class (writing or music class).
•  When students get 43-58 scores for two consecutive mock tests, they will automatically join PTE group classes (Given there are three or more PTE students).

Course Design:

1	One to One (1:1)	Reading for PTE	PTE Reading is the second section of the test and will take approximately 30-40 minutes. It includes 5 tasks in total. The reading materials for this section are all authentic texts about a variety of academic subjects, including humanities, natural sciences and social sciences. The teacher will expedite the reading strategies, such as skimming and scanning, reading the question twice, highlighting the keywords, eliminating techniques and practice test.
2	One to One (1:1)	Speaking for PTE	The speaking section in PTE is tailored for evaluating the English language. The speaking skills of students through questions asking them to repeat sentences from an audio clip. The PTE speaking test is a crucial part of the Pearson Test of English (PTE) that evaluates your ability to speak English effectively. In the class, the teacher will assist the student’s skills to get on well, including, fluency, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
3	One to One (1:1)	Writing for PTE	The PTE essay writing task aims to test your grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and written discourse skills. Therefore, it’s important that you understand this section, and what’s expected before going into the exam. To give the rundown, PTE Writing section consists of two tasks: Summarize Written Text and Essay. Both tasks in the PTE Writing section are computer-based, and you will type your responses using a keyboard. After reading the text, write a one-sentence summary of the passage. Write a 200–300-word essay on a given topic.
4	One to One (1:1)	Grammar for PTE	To enhance my grammatical accuracy and proficiency in order to achieve a high score in the grammar section of the PTE exam Focus on understanding and applying essential grammar rules, including verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, conjunctions, and sentence structure.
5	One to One (1:1)	General Skills for PTE	An in-depth focus on the student’s test-taking ability promotes mastery of four major skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking) where learners can fully immerse in their test-taking skills with assessments and feedback from their teachers.
6	Group Class (GC)	Listening for PTE	The class is designed to help students to listen and understand more effectively in a wide range of situations and aid students in acquiring essential listening and communication skills. The teacher will discuss the different techniques to help the students get their target scores. A range of accents are used to reflect the international nature of English. These could be from anywhere in the English-speaking world, including the US, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Ireland or Australia. Students should, therefore, try to get used to all of these different accents.
7	Group Class (GC)	General Skills for PTE	An integration of all the skills where students interact with their classes, and share opinions and ideas to advance in their studies. This tests the students to put their learnings into action through exposition, and intercommunication.
8	Group Class (GC)	Vocabulary for PTE	This class will help students enhance their vocabulary power for paraphrasing necessary in taking PTE tests. It covers word meaning and word usage that helps improve students’ vocabulary range and lexical resources.  This enables learners to use words in different context, to develop their productions skills in fluency, accuracy in speaking and writing.
9	Self – Study Class	Essay Writing/ Music Class	It offers sufficient time to complete tasks guided by a teacher to monitor student’s work and performance. Students can participate in music classes to learn more vocabulary and how to use words and relieve stress after class. The purpose of an Essay Writing class is to present a coherent argument in response to a stimulus or question, and to persuade the reader that your position is credible.
