Business English in HLA is designed to meet specific, individual, and professional needs as a category of English communication that includes the language skills used at work. These language skills include the English communication used in presentations, negotiations, meetings, small talk, socializing, correspondence, report writing, etc.
RECOMMENDED FOR:
– An 8-week extensive course to help students grow into business professionals acquiring essential English skills necessary for job applications or the workplace.
– Business professionals and aspiring business people who seek to improve and expand their business language competency in English both oral and written communication.
WHY STUDY BUSINESS ENGLISH IN HLA?
HLA Business English course is designed for any business person or aspiring business person who is willing to boost their oral and written competencies in business for a short period of time. All teachers are trained and are qualified to teach business classes on a theoretical and practical basis. Instructional materials are carefully prepared and selected to cater to students’ specific business needs.
LEARNING GOALS:
- To develop and enhance students’ confidence to take control of any communication opportunity and proactively convey their topic or standpoint.
- To be capable of using English to handle tasks such as drafting contracts, writing emails for customers and partners, negotiating contracts.
- To cultivate natural and fluent English speaking abilities, such as the ability to convey emotions as well as behavior in line with various cultures through tone or body language.
Class structure per day: 4 one to one classes, 4 group classes and 1 self-study class (Essay Writing/ Music Class)

2 | Group Class (GC) | General Skills | An integrated class (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) designed to provide students with opportunities to interact with other students, learn together, and value each difference and uniqueness. Moreover, students are taught everyday English expressions and proper usage of English as well as correct pronunciation through the assistance of our ever-dynamic and highly-trained teachers. |
3 | One to One (1:1) | Business Presentation | In this class, students are expected to present business proposals to an audience. Therefore, students are taught how to organize, plan, and deliver their presentations. |
4 | Group Class (GC) | Listening | This class aids students in improving their ability to listen and understand spoken English. |
5 | One to One (1:1) | General Business | Business knowledge is an important strategic asset. In this class, students will incorporate the skills, experiences, capabilities, and insight that they collectively create and rely on in their businesses using the English language. |
6 | Group Class (GC) | Pronunciation | As students come from different non-English countries, students find it difficult to say the words properly. Thus, this class will help them improve on properly enunciating words and using them in real-life settings. |
7 | One to One (1:1) | Speaking | The class is designed to help the student speak confidently on a variety of topics that draw on personal experience, campus-based situations, and academic content materials. This helps students develop language fluency with accuracy and natural speed. |
8 | Group Class (GC) | Business Vocabulary | Vocabulary class will help students enhance their vocabulary power for paraphrasing and learning business terms. It covers word meaning and word usage that helps improve students’ vocabulary range and lexical resources. |
9 | Self-Study Class | Essay Writing/ Music Class | It offers sufficient time to complete tasks guided by a teacher to monitor student’s work and performance. Students can participate in music classes to learn more vocabulary and how to use words and relieve stress after class. |
