WHY STUDY GENERAL ENGLISH IN HLA?

• Teachers of Happy Learning Academy all go through a rigorous recruitment process and are professionally trained according to the school’s curricula. HLA teachers are all degree holders in Education, and English or have TESOL/TEFL/IELTS certificates.
• HLA’s General English program prides itself on its curriculum which is aligned with the Cambridge English Framework of Reference (CEFR) to map students’ progress in the English language. 
• HLA emphasizes the value of giving feedback based on teachers’ daily and weekly assessments, monthly progression tests, and graduation tests before the end of the program, where students are informed about their progress throughout their study here at Happy Learning Academy.

Class structure per day: 4 one to one classes, 4 group classes and 1 self-study class (Essay Writing/ Music Class)

Course Design:

1	One to One (1:1)	Speaking	The class is designed to help the student speak confidently on a variety of topics that draw on personal experience, campus-based situations, and academic content materials. This helps students develop language fluency with accuracy and natural speed.
2	Group class (GC)	General Skills	An integrated class (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) designed to provide students with opportunities to interact with other students, learn together, and value each differences and uniqueness. Moreover, students are taught everyday English expressions and proper usage of English as well as correct pronunciation through the assistance of our ever-dynamic and highly-trained teachers.
3	One to One (1:1)	Writing	This hones learners’ ability to write standard academic English. The student will be able to state and support opinions based on their personal knowledge and experience. Also, they will be able to demonstrate their ability to communicate in writing about academic information based on what they have read and listened to.
4	Group class (GC)	Listening	This class aids students in improving their ability to listen and understand spoken English.
5	One to One (1:1)	Reading	This class is designed to develop and sharpen students’ reading skills. Different passages are given and students need to answer questions related to it. This class will test students’ comprehension skills.
6	Group Class (GC)	Pronunciation	As students come from different non-English speaking countries, students find it difficult to say the words properly. As such, there is a need for every student to learn this class which helps them improve on enunciating the words correctly and use them in real-life situations.
7	One to One (1:1)	General Skills	An integrated class where the teacher closely monitors students’ usage of English as well as the integration of the four major skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking)
8	Group Class (GC)	Grammar	This class will aid the students on how and when to use active and passive voice. Also, will help students when it comes to enhancing the usage of grammar in a sentence and how to use punctuation accordingly.
9	Self – Study Class	Essay Writing/ Music Class	It offers sufficient time to complete tasks guided by a teacher to monitor student’s work and performance. Students can participate in music classes to learn more vocabulary and how to use words and relieve stress after class.
